Malome Vector’s body arrives in Lesotho after tragic passing

The body of Malome Vector, a beloved former Ambitiouz Entertainment artist, arrived in Maseru on Friday, July 26. Scores of fans gathered at the Maseru Bridge to pay their respects, creating an emotional scene. The convoy then proceeded to Reauboka Mortuary in Sekamaneng, on the outskirts of Maseru.

Malome Vector, born Bokang Moleli, tragically died in a car accident on Wednesday, which also claimed the lives of two other artists. His family confirmed the devastating news in a statement released on Thursday morning, revealing that he was traveling to Lesotho when the accident occurred.

“It is with immeasurable grief that we, Moleli’s family, confirm the passing of our son Bokang Moleli, AKA Malome Vector, on July 24, 2024,” the statement read. “Malome Vector was involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident on his way to Lesotho, which took his life immediately.”

The family shared that Malome Vector leaves behind his wife, daughter, mother, father, and four siblings. “A true loving son indeed. He lived all his life in the entertainment industry and brought to us the music that we have come to love so much. His friends and fans will remember him by his limitless love and selflessness,” the family said.

Condolences poured in from all over the world following the news of his passing. The family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support, requesting privacy during this difficult time: “We appreciate all condolences and love that is pouring from all ends of the world. However, due to the burden of this matter, we kindly request you to give the family the time it needs to mourn.”

Malome Vector was reportedly traveling with artists Lizwe Wokuqala who also perished in the accident and Puleng Phoofolo who survived the accident. A multi-platinum-selling artist from Lesotho, Malome Vector gained fame in the South African Afro-pop and hip hop scene with hits like “Dumelang” and “Nobody.” Discovered by Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2020, he controversially left the label last year to start his own record label, The Whole Time Entertainment, and secured a distribution deal with Ingrooves Africa (Electromode).

His legacy will live on through his music and the memories he created with his fans and loved ones.
