Econet Awards two students to study in America

Maseru- ECONET Telecom Lesotho (ETL) and it’s social impact investment “Higherlife Foundation” sent of two of their beneficiaries to study abroad.

Econet Managing Director, Dannie’s Plaatjies introduced recipients, namely katleho Mokhele and Matlala Sefale both females who are due to leave for America to further their studies.

Mokhele is set to pursue a degree in psychology, social science in minor education while Sefale will be studying towards Double Major Development Science at St. Laurence  University in New York.

Plaatjies informed that two were selected based on their academic achievements, leadership potential and commitment.

Higherlife Foundation is a social impact organisation that invest in human capital  to built thriving individuals, communities and sustainable livelihoods. 

“Since the beginning of the initiative in 2011, Higherlife has helped over 1600 secondary students and 70 tertiary students,” he said 

Delivering her farewelled speech, Mokhele said she is delighted to have been given yet another opportunity to further her studies in America.

Adding, that will help us gain exposure on how other  nations are living, gain world -class education and also come back to contribute to our communities meaningful.

“Higher life foundation has not only provided us with better education but has instilled us with a sense of hope and possibility for future, it has also made a profound difference in both our lifes and families,” she added

Also speaking on behalf of Parents, Makatleho Mokhele said econet has opened many doors that their kids and families would only dream of before.

“It has transformed their future and provided with hope and ambition,” She commended 

The occasion was graced by Honorable Minister of Education, Ntoi Rapapa. 

He said expanding educational opportunities is one of his ministry programs, further commending econet   for the incredible opportunity to Basotho.

Rapapa indicated that the opportunity will not only broaden their educational horizon but equip them with invaluable experiences that will benefit them and the nation in the years to come.
