Maseru- Earlier this week, Econet Telecom Lesotho announced the official launch of its second annual Digital Expo for 2024, the four day event held at the Maseru Mall showcased the company’s latest innovations in digital technologies and AI powered solutions.
The event ran from 22nd -25th , the expo provided a platform for econet to demonstrate its transformation from a tele-communications operator to a fully integrated digital service provider. “ Through the expo, the company reaffirmed its commitment to driving digital transformation in Lesotho, highlighting its role in shaping the country’s digital future.
Lebohang Ramaisa, General Manager Sales said the expo came at a very pivotal time for the company , following its successful rollout of the 5G network coverage across all the ten (10) districts, the company has also expanded its offerings with eSIM and a HD Voice (VoLTE) services enabling customers with compatible devices to experience seamless connectivity and high definition voice calls over the 4G Network.
“These developments underscore Econet’s ambition to provide innovative , future ready solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” he said.
“The expo serves as a key platform for engaging customers and stakeholders , showcasing how AI , 5G, eSIM, and other digital solutions, transforming homes, businesses and public services. This year’s event highlights Econet’s role not just as a telecom provider but a key partner in Lesotho’s digital transformation journey, he informed.
Ramaisa said Lesotho’s need for infrastructure continues to grow therefore the Expo aims to inspire businesses, entrepreneurs, young innovators to explore the potential of advanced technologies, “ the econet 5G network and AI solutions offer business opportunities to streamline operations, enhance customer services, and access to new markets.
He stressed that the recent milestones in 5G and eSIM technology are just the beginning as econet aims to foster a culture of innovation that empowers businesses and communities to thrive in the digital economy.
The Expo also featured live demonstrations and a panel discussion focussed on AI, Fintech solutions, and cyber-security showcasing the latest in technology and digital advancements from Econet, The Expo had five stalls featuring different services the Econet offers which includes:
Stall 1– Introducing Econet Omnivoice, a scalable , cost effective, and feature-rich communication solution for your business, which benefits from enhanced security and robust data protection , with AI -powered call analytics and seamless CRM integration that can elevate businesses to new heights.
Stall 2: Gaming Zone which features virtual reality with immense experiences of hiking and showcasing Lesotho’s landscapes, towns and more.
Stall 3: Econet Services- introduction of the eSIM , a digital SIM, the first of its kind in the country with compatibility in neighbouring countries. Stall 4: Smart Homes let you monitor and control your home remotely enhancing security and convenience from anywhere whether in the country or South Africa using a phone, you can see what’s happening and control devices like lights, TV’s and curtains at any time you choose to.
The Network is highly protected, not easily tempered without a user’s phone and alleviates cyber-security.
