Minister gives Michelle Tau M30 000

On Sunday, minister of sports, Honourable Motlatsi Maqelepo, handed M30 000 to Lesotho’s number one taekwondo star, Michelle Tau at Blue Mountain Inn, Teyateyaneng.

Michelle was not in attendance to receive the money as she is currently overseas gearing up for the upcoming Olympic Games. Minister Maqelepo said the money was a “humble gesture” in recognition of Michelle’s achievements during the recently held All Africa Games in Ghana, where she scooped a bronze medal, ultimately becoming the sole Lesotho athlete to register a medal for the country, and further bestowed with the Africa’s Sports Woman of the Year award.

Minister Maqelepo was attending the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC)’s annual general meeting (AGM).

Also honoured was Teboho Mafatle, a retired Lesotho boxing legend, who was recently recognized as the longest serving boxing official in southern Africa.

Three outgoing LSRC officers, Mofihli Makoele, Mahlape Mohloki and ‘Matelang Letlaka were also awarded with gifts.
