On this day, 8 April 1879, Baphuthi warriors led by chief Moorosi successfully defeated the British and Basotho forces who were trying to club his mountain fortress to attack him.
Chief Moorosi was refusing to surrender his sons who were arrested in Quthing on charges that they once stole a horse in South Africa.
