The TJ Nthane Foundation has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting local sports, donating 20 pairs of football boots valued at a little over M40,000 to the Maseru Superstars Football Club. The club, which competes in the National B division league, had been struggling with inadequate footwear, making this contribution both timely and essential.
The donation is part of the foundation’s broader effort to support sports development in Lesotho. Earlier this month, the TJ Nthane Foundation sponsored the inaugural Maseru Community Cup and has also made significant contributions to the national football team, Likuena, by donating leisure sweaters and shirts worth approximately M50,000 during their COSAFA 2024 campaign earlier this year. Despite being only eight months old, the foundation has already invested over a million maloti in sports-related sponsorships and support only, marking its impact as both immediate and substantial.
Mampiti Thamae, the founder of Maseru Superstars FC, expressed her deep gratitude for the donation. She said she wasvery proud of her team, and felt it was her duty to get out of her way and ensure that her boys have the proper gear to play. She explained that the team’s previous football boots were in terrible condition, unfit for play, and it had been heartbreaking for her to watch them compete under such circumstances. Thamae thanked ntate Shelile of the TJ Nthane Foundation for responding swiftly to their plea for help. She also urged her players to eliminate any excuses about equipment quality and focus on giving their best performance in their upcoming match this weekend.
The captain of Maseru Superstars FC echoed Thamae’s sentiments, expressing his gratitude to the TJ Nthane Foundation. He promised that the team would work hard to honor the foundation’s generosity in their opening game of the B-division league this weekend.
