On this day, 4 July 1945, Mpho Malie, the else so of ‘Meli Malie one of the first cabinet ministers of Lesotho, was born in Taung, Mohale’s Hoek.
Academically he majored in bachelor of science from the now called National University of Lesotho (NUL) in 1970.
In 1976 he went to Canada where he became one of the first Basotho ever to receive masters in computer science.
He would later open the first Mosotho owned computer firm, Square One Computers but sadly now defunct, which used to operate near what is today the Pioneer Mall.
In 1993 he became the minister of communications. He held different ministerial positions afterwards until his retirement from active politics circa 2009.
