Trump declared in excellent health after Walter Reed physical

President Donald Trump has been declared in excellent health following a three-hour physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, his fourth such checkup since returning to the White House.

The routine six-month assessment, conducted by US Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, concluded with a “perfect bill of health” declaration from the White House. Trump, who turns 80 next month, is the oldest person ever to have been elected to the United States presidency.

Independent medical experts note that the frequency of his examinations is consistent with standard practice for individuals in his age group, where regular monitoring allows for early detection of potential health concerns.

Among the conditions being managed by his medical team is chronic venous insufficiency, first diagnosed in July 2025. The condition, which is common in older adults, causes blood to pool in the leg veins and has occasionally produced mild swelling in his feet, ankles, and calves.

On cardiovascular health, Captain Barbabella has previously reported that an MRI returned “excellent” results. Trump takes daily aspirin as part of a standard preventative regimen, which the White House has attributed as the cause of occasional bruising observed on his hands.

Cognitive function assessments have also featured in Trump’s disclosed medical history. He achieved a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment in both his 2018 and 2025 checkups.
