Government Website Now Used As RFP Political Platform

In a stunning development, the official Government of Lesotho website is now publishing news linked to the ruling Revolution for Prosperity (RFP).

This raises a fundamental question:

Has the government website become a ruling party platform?

The government website is funded by taxpayers and is meant to serve the nation, not any political party.

When state platforms begin to carry ruling party messaging, it blurs the line between government and party, a line that exists to protect democracy and ensure fairness.

Basotho have every right to ask:

Where does the government end and the party begin?

Basotho National Party (BNP) leader, Hon. Machesetsa Mofomobe raised this issue earlier in parliament today and as of publishing of this post the post was still up

Lesotho Tribune has asked the Minister of ICT, who has the custody of government website questions but she’s yet to respond.
