In a letter dated 25 June 2026, Lesotho Housing managing director M. Matekane wrote to Peka Fresh Produce in Maputsoe, warning that the corporation would exercise its rights as the lawful owner of land at Maputsoe (Khomokhoana) by harvesting the maize crop planted there without its permission.
The letter, carrying reference LHLDC/PDC/36 LL/ll, cited earlier correspondence dated 12 February 2026 and 4 March 2026. Matekane wrote that the corporation had tried to resolve the matter amicably but that its efforts had not been successful because Peka Fresh Produce was evading engagement on the matter.
Lesotho Housing said it would not countenance any further trespass or unauthorised activity by Peka Fresh Produce on the land. The corporation warned that future trespass would be reported to prosecuting authorities and that it reserved the right to pursue civil claims for damages.
The Tribune sent questions to Peka Fresh Produce seeking comment on the corporation’s letter. No response had been received at the time of publication.
