Maseru – Lesotho’s political parties have finalised their shortlist of five candidates for appointment to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), in line with national regulations.
The names forwarded to the Council of State are:
- Dr John Maphephe
- Dr Fako Likoti
- Mr Retselisitsoe Mohale
- Mrs Mamatlere Matete
- Dr Monyane Chelete
The Council of State is now expected to select three from the five nominees to serve as commissioners. The move marks a key step in filling the long-awaited IEC leadership positions, a process closely watched for its implications on the country’s electoral credibility and governance stability.
