Third Place, but Plenty of Promise in Lesotho Cricket

Lesotho’s senior men’s cricket team beat Eswatini by 18 runs in the final match of the ECA Ubuntu Tri-Nations Series, finishing third in the tournament behind champions Eswatini and silver medallists Mozambique.

Batting first, Lesotho posted 221/6 from their 20 overs. Maaz Khan top-scored with 82 runs. Eswatini mounted a spirited chase, reaching 203/5 at the close, but could not overhaul the target.

Lebona Leokaoke was named Player of the Match for his all-round contribution with bat and ball.

“The Lesotho Cricket Association congratulates all players and officials for their dedication, fighting spirit, and professionalism throughout the tournament.”

Eswatini won the tournament and took the gold medals. Mozambique finished second. Lesotho ended third, their campaign closing on a win rather than a defeat.

Cricket has grown steadily in Lesotho in recent years, with structured domestic programmes and greater youth participation increasing the sport’s reach. Regular involvement in regional competitions such as this series has added competitive depth. Performances from Khan and Leokaoke will add to that momentum as the association prepares for the next cycle of regional cricket.
