President Cyril Ramaphosa has made key cabinet appointments, naming Mr. Buti Kgwaridi Manamelaas the new Minister of Higher Education and Training. Manamela, who previously served as Deputy Minister in the same portfolio since the 7th administration, steps into the top role under Section 91(2) of the Constitution.
In a corresponding move, President Ramaphosa has appointed Dr. Nomusa Dube-Ncube as Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, acting under Section 93(b), which allows the President to appoint up to two Deputy Ministers from outside the National Assembly.
Dr. Dube-Ncube brings extensive experience, having served as MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and as Premier of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Presidency says the appointments aim to strengthen leadership and drive transformation in South Africa’s higher education sector.
